Can not get into router!

When I enter http://192.168.1.1/ into my address bar it prompts me for a username and password.  My default I entered admin and password for the user name and password respectively but it still failed even after I flipped the switch on the back of my router to reset it.   Also when I type in the password it shows three asterisk's whenever I type a single character.

I believe the dots are a security feature.  Dont worry about how many dots you see, just type the password.  If you can not remember the password, use the reset button not the switch to reset to factory default.

You should check the sticker on your router. There will either be a default password listed there, or your password is most likely the serial number.

Yes, the extra dots appearing are a "security feature" - ignore them.

Flipping the on off switch is not the same as resetting, To reset, leave the unit powered on, press and hold the reset pin hole 15 seconds and release, wat 1 minute or so;  then try to login. If the issue persists please post the make and model of your router.

NOTE you will loose any custom settings and/or passwords that you may have changed.

Another trick is to copy and paste the passwork from an existing document such as wordpad.

So I got into my router settings but I do not see an "Add" hyperlink in the lower left hand corner like I should based off of what I have read.  My router model is M1424WR.

What are you trying to ADD? On the Main Page the only add is "adding a web cam"  it is one of the 6 quick links.

Ok so this is where I am at right now.  I am trying to configure my router so that I can play League of Legends.  I went to Advanced>Port Forwarding Rules and there I found the red hyperlink "Add" that I was looking for.  But when I was trying to enter in the ports, it will not register all of the ports because they overlap each other.  The ports that I am trying to open up are as follows:

  • 5000 - 5500 UDP - League of Legends Game Client
  • 8393 - 8400 TCP - Patcher and Maestro
  • 2099 TCP - PVP.Net
  • 5223 TCP - PVP.Net
  • 5222 TCP - PVP.Net
  • 80 TCP - HTTP Connections
  • 443 TCP - HTTPS Connections
  • 8088 Spectator Mode

That's correct.  You can not forward ports that overlap.

Port 5222 and 5223 (PVP Net) overlap the 5000-5500 (LOL) range.

If a packet comes in on 5222 or 5223, how is the router supposed to know which forwarding rule to apply since there would be a conflict.

Can you narrow the port range used by LOL? Say 5000-5199?
