I want to put a Buffalo NAS storage device on the USB port on the MI424WR (Rev. F) - Wireless Broadband Router, but Actiontec says a firmware upgrade to Rev G is needed to do this. If I do the upgrade (will it even allow it?) will I trash my router such that it won't work (and I may not be able to restore it to Rev F)? Anyone have any experience attempting this?

This USB port is not enabled in any Verizon branded version of the Actiontec router.
p.s. You can't do a firmware upgrade and make a rev F into a rev. G.

Not sure what you mean by "not enabled". I use this USB port on the router to charge my EVO smartphone. I have a La Cie external drive which I'm going to plug in and see what happens.

There is indeed power on the USB port, so charging USB devices does work.
What I meant by "not enabled", is that there is no firmware support of any kind.
No mass storage driver, etc.
