Network connection - time out

I am a novice with most of this.... but I keep getting dropped calls on my Vonage line.  I recently installed FIOS.  Someone suggested doing a tracert to see where my connection is getting stuck.  Every time I do it, step # 4 times out - - which appears to be somewhere in the verizon network.  What do I do?

I successfully run Vonage here on FIOS without issue.

Have you recently tried to reboot the Verizon router to clear anything up that may be stuck?

If you traceroute to other sites, do you get the same timeout?

Since it always times out there, that is nothing to be concerned about. That is just a router that is set to not respond to ping commands. not that unusual. Since the trace does proceed past that point, it is passing through. It would only be a problem if it responded sometimes and not at others. The tracert posted there looks good. There doesnt seem to be any obvious issues. There is only one very small hiccup at hop 9 on ping 3, but that should not cause any issues and is fairly normal on an internet connection. So it looks like you are not dropping any packets, at least not in this trace anyway.

I have had the call dropping problem for quite some time now.... I used to think it was my Comcast connection, but now on FIOS too.  I do reset my router and vonage box often.  I've had my vonage box for several years -- maybe that is the source?  I suppose there could be a firmware upgrade available.  I run a small business and I hate it when a call gets dropped, which seems to be a couple times a week.

You need to call Vonage right away and inform them of the problem.  Be sure they know the problem existed on both Comcast and now Fios.  They may push a new firmware or just flash the device with replacement software.  If the problem exists after that they will then send you a replacement router.  I've had vonage for years and they are pretty good about taking care of things like this.
