ONT re-wiring $80 requirement question

We are moving out, and the new tenants have created a new order and upgrading to 100mbps using new g1100 router which they already purchased from third party. We currently have 50mbps using actiontec router. Verizon told our tenants they need to re-wire for 100mbps. We read somewhere that the ONT can handle 100mpbs already. Only speeds > than 100mbps require re-wiring. We installed the new g1100 to test it out for them and it works on our current service.

Anway, do my tenants really need someone out to re-wire? Or, is this a way to charge them $80 for the set-up? Please advise, thank you,

This is to run Ethernet from the ONT to the router location. Verizon does not provision more than 75Mbps on coaxial as most ONTs don't support rates higher than that on Coaxial. Additonally the 100Mbps package runs faster than 100Mbps in real world usage.

No, you can run the ethernet wire yourself from the ONT to the router.  If you want to test it you will have to contact fios tech support to change the provisioning to ether.  It's fre and they will do it over the phone with you.
