He is talking about the Wi-Fi Hotspots that Verizon offers as a part of many people's services with DSL or FiOS. Those hotspots need the VZAccess Manager installed (pretty sure that's the program) in order to even be used, which is what prevents anything but a Windows-based PC from really using them. I wish they'd simply use a walled garden on the browser approach. Much more universal and standard compared to using a piece of software to connect.

Yes that is exactly what she (I am) talking about so sometimes I can just travel with my iPad and not my laptop.
