Removing Cover Battery Backup Unit

I'll admit that I'm not technical whiz, but can someone help me figure out how to remove the cover of the battery backup unit on my Verizon Fios unit?  I need to replace the battery.  I kow that I'm supposed to remove it with the help of the "cover tabs."  I've tried pushing them, pulling them, bring them together, but nothing helps me remove the cover. The best I can do is get part of the left side loose.  Is there a simple trick to removing the cover?  I can't find any diagrams.  Just so you know, the unit is on the wall next to a filing cabinet.  I can get to it from the side, but I can't get to it face on.  I know that there is writing on the unit regarding removing the cover, but I can't read it.  All the tech advice seems to assume that the cover comes right off.

move the filing cabinet out of the way, if need be.... use a flathead screwdriver if need be, for leverage....

Its a battery cover, simmilar to the battery cover on a remote or a childs toy.... just a slightly larger scale

theres really not too much to it

Hello!

Well, there are a few different models, so it makes it a bit tough.  Generally, think of it like the back of a remote control slide cover.  You have to push in at the dimpled tabs, and then slide the cover to the left.  If you still can't get it, let me know.
