Just had my internet installed yesterday, since then there is a program?, called "Security Tool" that keeps popping up telling me certain files are infected.  This is not a verizon product, it's asking me to purchase, no way.  I need to know how to get rid of this, it interferes with everything i try to run.  I ran verizon anti-virus....no viruses were found.

Some of these infections can be very difficult to get rid of. You are smart not to buy, just a waste of money. I suggest you start by trying:

1) Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

2) SuperAntiSpyware - http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html

Both of these are very reputable programs, I use both about once a week or so. Try one of them, if it works, fine, if it doesn't, try the other. Note: sometimes these infections prevent you from installing any tools to remove them, sometimes it will work to start Windows in Safe Mode by pressing the F8 key repeatedly during boot. And you may have to go to another computer to actually download the software, then put it on a flash drive and install it from there.

Beyond that, my suggestion would be to go to the Security forum at dslreports.com and ask for help. There are some very knowledgeable people there that almost certainly can give you some good guidance, but they are going to need as much information about the problem as you can provide.

Good luck.
