SoCAL FIOS issue (Gamers)

For the past month users who play BLIZZARD games have been having a rough time trying to play games. I play WoW and I thought it was just me who was having latency issues;however, looking @ the WoW/Blizzard Tech FORUMS you can see multiple posts listed such as " Socal Fios LAG" " FIOS LATENCY" ..  Apparently Blizzard has tried getting a hold of Verizon because this is seriously affecting many users and the majority of us (including myself) are really frustrated!!

Here is a quote from a blizzard rep :

"Hey all, I wanted to provide an update that our Network Technicians received from Verizon. They are aware of the issue and are working toward a solution, but at this time they don't have an ETA they can quote for us. At this point it's in Verizon's court, and they're working to resolve this as quickly as possible. We'll continue to provide updates as we hear them. "

I would love to know if anyone else is experiencing packet loss / bad latency and when will it be fixed?

Yup, this is definitely a Verizon FIOS issue. Spent the better part of the weekend working with Blizz and trolling the Blizz forums. Running WinMTR traces shows that the wheels fall off when bouncing off the "0.ae6.BR3.LAX15.ALTER.NET" verizon node. Running the same trace while VPN'ed in to work, the route's don't go anywhere near the verizon nodes and the AT&T ping rates are pretty decent.

When contacting Verizon "support", I'm told that the rep is not knowledgeable enough and I need to contact their "Expert Care" team, for which I will be charge a fee to have them try to resolve their issue. Well, up until recently, I've been very satisfied with Verizon, but their service for a customer that's been with them for the better part of 10 years is definitely turning into a pumpkin. Time to start hunting for alternatives to Verizon FIOS.

Been having the same problem with the above mentioned alter.net node would like to know when we can expect this to be fixed

Same problem, both sides keep pointing to the other.

I've been told by Blizzard Techs that it's Verizon's problem to fix and it's been isolated to an alter.net node that Verizon supposedly owns.

I've been told by Verizon Techs that their network is fine and it's a 3rd party problem and on them to fix it.

Meanwhile I've had no issues playing any Blizzard games for the last 5 years from this same location with this same exact set up and yet about 4 weeks ago latency started to spike and now it's just gotten to the point of being unplayable.

I'm tired of running TraceRts and PathPings and WinMTR's and I shouldn't have to use a VPN to bypass the issue.

It'd be nice if someone somewhere decided to actually do something instead of running network tests behind a desk and telling me that their network is fine.

Yes I know I can get to YouTube.com and Google.com just fine,  I can play any steam game I want just fine too. What I can't do is play a Blizzard Entertainment game without having serious latency issues.

Also having this issue in SoCal. Was already thinking of switching to TWC for tv/internet/phone but internet quality and reliability was holding me back. If this isn't fixed soon will make the switch.

I'm having this issue as well. I play on EST servers, never had a ping over 70 usually.... now for the last month ping has been from 200-1000+. Right now, trying to raid and getting pings from 250-1400.... it's literally unplayable. This needs to be fixed.

This problem, along with No Dodgers, has my family considering dropping Verizon for someone else.

what would be great is if verizon at&t and blizzard would all stop pointing fingers at each other about the nodes all take the time to check their own hardware and get this issue fixed for their customers at this point charter is looking really good since they have not been having this pathway problem

At this point if I dont hear from a Verizon representative who understands us , I am calling in to cancel my 150/150 upgrade and canceling FIOS Internet/ Cable and swapping to different provider. I didn't hesitate to cancel w/ Verizon Wireless two weeks ago, a termination fee doesn't scare me.

Here is a link to WoW forums where at least 100+ users are having issues.
