Switching to FIOS

Hello Verizon Fios community.  I recently have started preeing through these forums to learn about how verizon fios is treating you guys.  It seems that most people are having some fluctuation issues with their internet.  Though you guys have 7mbs+  I am here stuck with 3mbs with a internet tv and 2 laptops just killing my internet speed to a messly .6mbs on busy days.  So I was wondering, if there are any plans out there that is around my normal phone+DSL bill which is $80+.?  Or there is a stand alone cheap verizon fios internet plan?

Thank you for your time Verizon community.  And hopefully you guys are able to help me make the switch to FIOS.

Welcome! I upgraded to FIOS plan that is rated 3/1 but consistently get ~ 4.7 down and ~ 4.4 up. I am not sure it will suit your needs but I also went Over then air for TV and use this http://www.silicondust.com/products/hdhomerun/atsc/ with an antenna. (cost ~ $80 + $80 for a new antenna) So now I pay about $40 / month to verizon for Internet access & fiber phone, and can watch TV from any networked device in my home. I also have Windows Media Center installed which serves as a DVR .

Hm, is it possible you could send me the link to your package?  Also did you pay a fee to get your FIOS installed into your home?  Also if anyone else can give me some insight, it would be appreciated.

Cannot speak for DSL, except to offer condolences that you cannot get FiOS (and believe me, I am not being a wiseacre).

However it's fair to mention that on any forum you will undoubtedly encounter folks with problems well out of proportion to the problem level in the general community.  For examples try looking into the "kudos" tag.

Best of luck with your decision and its consequences.

There was no fee at all, except to configure a second computer. A quick call to customer service and the fee was waived. I do not have a link, I had a history of issues with DSL and via a telephone conversation I was offered the aforementioned bundle. NOTE I have the  bare minimum telephone service (no long distance... ) I have had no issues at all since the upgrade (about 1 year) except for the need of a modem replacement. (LONG story)
