New Guide Update

There is a new guide update that is on the way in september that will be released sometime between the middle of the month and no later than the last week of the month. It will be a big release that will be addressing issues with missing logos, no logos, the issue with the press c to watch this in hd problem that appears on certain channels that have no hd versions of them and if there is any inaccurate guide data that is there it will also fix that too. Between now and then though customers are being encouraged to contact verizon and have a ticket created with the specifics of any guide info that may not match so it can be added to the fix that is on the way. If someone chooses to not do that then the issues will remain. I believe the series recording issue fix where for some shows it only records the first episode but not the rest is also on the way too but if people do not contact verizon with whatever tv issue they have it will not be addressed in the update that is about a month away. Everyone will not get it at the same time because it will be rolled out based on where you live.

As a follow up to my previous comments on here about a new guide update verizon is actually going to be doing a major update before the year is over. The end of september was the target date for a minor update but instead they have chosen to go with a major update that will be fixing all of the issues people are having with the guide or with certain channels that are being affected. The new release will be 1.9.5 IMG (interactive media guide) where it will be rolled out based on where you live. This of course depends on the weather over the next few months as mother nature has not been too kind to some parts of the country. In california there have been a lot of wildfires and for people in new jersey the last three years have not been too kind either. Last year it was hurricane sandy. The year before it was hurricane irene. Then three years ago when verizon was set to send out a new guide release a giant snow storm hit the east coast which forced verizon to then switch to sending out that new guide release to people on the west coast. When it happens it will be a 3am to 5am download that will interrupt any recordings which will require the set top box to reboot itself. The new guide release will not be like the one that was released in may which was 1.9.4 IMG which turned out to be much ado about nothing. If people want to be a part of the solution with regards to any issues with the guide then they should have a ticket created with the specifics of what the issues are so that it can be a part of the new 1.9.5 IMG that is on the way. They only do these kinds of major updates to the guide every six to 12 months so if people want a resolution to anything that is a issue now contact verizon to get a ticket created so that it can be included in the fix that is on the way.
