Thinking about FIOS.
hell_storm2004

Hello Veriozon,

I registered just to ask this question! Its time to change my TV service provider, I am currently with Dish, I was thinking about FIOS because of a better price for the same number of channels. But this time i want to get it right. I am satisfied with Dish, but not happy. Just wanted to know that does Verizon have any Rugby channels available on the package? I know that DirecTV has it. I was thinking of getting the Ultimate HD package.

NFL is something i dont care about. So not having Red Zone, Sunday ticket hardly matters.

Football, Rugby and Tennis, is all that matters to me!

These are peer to peer/user ro user forums. You won't get a direct response from Verizon on here.

You can view the channel listings in your area by package to see if what you are looking is included by going here: http://www.verizon.com/home/widget/ChannelLineUpWidgetServlet?zipcode

Yeah... I wanted some feedback from users. There must be some Rugby fans out there. I looked at the names of the sports channels, but you know, the names sometimes dont add up to the sport they normally cover. So i wouldn't know even if i was looking at one! Like ESPN, you would think that it covers many sports, but you can very well say that its Lebron network!

Fair warning that Fox Soccer Plus (which shows a fair bit of rugby) is SD only.  The picture quality feels distorted and awful quality.    Universal Sports, Bein sports, and NBC Sports all show rugby on occasion and are fine in HD

I could not find a place to suggest directly to Verizon that we would like to request FIOS service in our area.  I have the same type of situation as the poster of this original thread.  Comcast was excellent where we used to live, but the service here in our experience is completely unacceptable (did not even show up multiple times to install).  Therefore, we chose AT&T U-verse, which we generally like but the Internet service is much slower than cable Internet or FIOS service.  Our contract will expire soon, and we are evaluating the limited options here.

The Verizon website says that Verizon FIOS is available in Ponte Vedra Beach.  However, when I called, the agent said that it is unfortuntely not available.  We live in the Sawgrass communities, which would seemingly be a good market for Verizon FIOS service, especially with the lack of other quality providers.

Would someone please forward my request to the appropriate Verizon contacts or direct me to a place where I may do so?  Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,

You are talking to peers here.

They reason you don't find a place to make that suggestion is that Verizon has announced that they are currently not planning any expansion in to new areas except where they have an existing agreement to complete installs.  Even in some of those areas, although they usually haven't said so, they are trying to back away from doing the installs where they haven't already installed the infrastructure..

After my current dealings with Verizon, I can honestly say they've been equal or worse than dealing with Comcast, which was absolutely horrid.  I would stick with Dish if I were you.

YMMV.
