While watching live TV sometimes I'll notice that the buffer isn't working - at all. If I hit the play button to bring up the bar that shows you how much buffer you have on the current channel there is none showing. If I hit pause or try and rewind the screen the picture will lock up and no longer respond. I have to change channels to get it to start working again.
It doesn't seem to matter whether it's a recorded program or not. It almost seems as though it does it more often while recording, but I'm not positive. For example, if two programs are being recorded at the same time and this happens I have to hit the DVR button and play what's being recorded on the channel I wasn't watching live then switch back to it.
Any ideas on why this is happening or if Verizon is aware of the problem?
Thanks.

Well,
I do not know what is going on, but it is happening more and more. The first time it happened was during the Super bowl. The DVR froze up and nothing would make it go. I coulfd not even turn it off with the remote. It eventually shut down and powered itself back on. The clock/channel display lit up like a X-mas tree right before. It has happened four more times. I have tried changing the channel and that seems to break up what is going on. Then, it power cycles and takes about a minute to re-start. I have tried all of the onboard diagnostics, to no avail. I am starting to wonder what bug it has. It is quite anoying. It is acting like a computer with not enough RAM. My DVR is only about 30% full! If it contimues, I guess it is time for a new DVR.
Well, Verizon do you have any idea's yet?
I just suspended DirecTV, and am staring to wonder if that was the right move. I am still in my 30-day window to cancel FiOS.
If I do not get it fixed, back to DirecTV. All I did was to suspend my service. All I need to do is re-start it.
Thanks.

Did the mods merge these two threads or was that a reply to my original post? If it's a merge - these are two separate issues. My DVR isn't locking up - the live buffer is just freezing until I change the channel if I attempt to pause or rewind. I also had this problem with the 7216 I had for a short time - just not as frequent.

Do you have an external drive hooked up to your system? I ask because I have seen this when using a external hard drive that didn't have the adequate specs.

no adam it happens when there is no recording going on. i will be flipping thru the channels and stop on a program watch it for a while then try to rewind it and it will not rewind. there is no white bar to show the buffering and if i press pause the picture will freeze and then i cant restart it with the play button or even the fios tv round button. to restart the picture i must press the last channel button jump back to the last channel(that has buffer on it) then jump back again to the original channel i was watching then i can see the buffer and rewind to where i want to see. also it reboots randomly for no reason alot.
IS THIS THE SAME ISSUE AS EVERYONE ONE ELSE HERE?

It is happening to me as well. I have two 7232's, one has an external drive connected and the other does not. The 7232 WITHOUT the external drive locks up daily and the ONLY way I can restart it is by unplugging it. It freezes exactly as you describe, I may be able to change the channel once or twice then it just siezes up. That box also reboots quite a bit on it's own. The box is no where near full (only 30-40%) so that is not a problem. The 7232 with the external drive has never had any of these problems (knock on wood). Definitely strange.
