Coaxial cable split recommendation

Hi, I've moved an upstairs fios receiver to the basement.  Since that upstairs coax line was split to shared a second TV receiver in another bedroom I can't disconnect that cable from the source splitter into he garage.

The primary garage 3-way splitter splits the main input line to four locations including the wireless router.  (one of the 3 output lines is split again in the atic to feed two upstairs TV receivers) .  The router has it's own cable run, and the DVR has it's own cable run.

I need to add an additional coaxial cable to run to the TV moved to the basement.

Should I replace the 3 way splitter in the garage with a 4 way bi-directional splitter.   Or, can I add a splitter to one of the three existing output cables such as the router coax or the DVR coax, or the upstairs coax which already has a splitter on it in the attic.

Thank in advance for the help!

Shawn

Hi msp1000,

You can do either. Just make sure the splitter you use is rated for 1 GHz.

Thanks,
