One of my DVRs, a QIP 7216, sometimes just cuts off its power for no particular reason. Has this ever happened to anyone else? If I need a new DVR, is there a way to save the stored recorded programs onto the new unit?
Most likely reason for a shutdown is overheating. Do you have sufficient space around the sides and top of the DVR (Motorola recommends at least 3 inches)? Unfortunately there is presently no way to transfer your existing recordings to a new DVR.
Thanks Keyboards. I thought it might be that, but I do have enough space and ventilation around the unit. I guess I will have to exchange it for another and lose whatever recorded programs may be on there.
