Why did I receive a letter from Frontier Communications and Verizon talking about changing my provider.

We sent the letter to let you know about the upcoming change in your telephone service. As you may be aware, Verizon and Frontier Communications have entered into a transaction whereby Verizon will spin off an entity that own Verizon’s telephone lines and related operations in Arizona, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and portions of California bordering Arizona, Nevada and Oregon.  Immediately following such spin-off, the spun-off entity will merge with and into Frontier Communications.  Pending approval of the transaction by state and federal authorities and the satisfaction of other closing conditions, we anticipate that the transaction will close on or after June 30, 2010.  At close, your local and long distance service will move from Verizon to Frontier Communications.
