I used to have Verizon phone and DSL over copper. During the month of April i was harrassed by FiOS goons at my door demanding i must switch to fiber. I then canceled verizon DSL and switched to DSL Extreme which is a third party CLEC that leases the lines from verizon. At this point i have Verizon phone with DSL extreme providing DSL over the same copper pair. Next step: i was ready to drop the Verizon phone as i don't even have a phone plugged in to that line. I contacted Verizon disconnect dept and 3 or 4 different reps can NOT dissconnect the voice. After doing some research i found i have to go through the CLEC and have them convert me to dry loop (stand alone DSL). The CLEC was also UNABLE to have the voice dropped and convert me to dry loop. They (CLEC) still have a ticket open but i don't think they will be able to get anywhere. What is causing this ? I should be able to get dry loop throught the CLEC as they offer dryloop in verizon leased areas where Verizon is the ILEC .

I am not sure how the CLEC operates, but for Verizon DSL service its a requirement to keep the phone line. We are no longer offering Dry Loop service. This could be effecting the operations of the CLEC.

The issue probably is that they are trying to convert a phone line to a dry loop that isn't theirs. Does this company offer phone service? Can you transfer your service to them and then convert it to a dry loop? Else they would probably have to establish a new line with the new company, and then connect that to the NID.

Thinking this out a better option if dry loop not feasable call verizon and switch to the LOWSEST possible voice plan such as 90 minutes a month measured. There is a $10 punishment fee for dry loop anyways the measured should not be much more,
