Does the router need to be on for the digital voice telephone service to work? I typically turn my router off at night.

Not that I am aware of.

But If you have TV service, you need to leave your router on. Many if not most updates are sent to the Set Top Boxes, and Digital Video Recorders at night. If you turn off your router, your channel guides, and updates to your TV hardware will not take place.
