Email offer for expired complimentary On Demand Flexview rental?

Hi,

I got an email yesterday from 'verizon-services@verizon.com' offering a complimentary On Demand Flexview rental.  After we were not able to rent one tonight I noticed the bottom of the email says:

"Offer valid from 3/13/12–8/31/12 for FiOS® TV residential customers renting a Flex View Video On Demand movie for the first time. Movie will appear on customer bill with a credit applied for a net charge of $0.00. Additional taxes and fees may apply."

Expired offers?  Really, Verizon?!?!

Yep, I got the same email yesterday. But then again I have no interest in renting anything, even if it would be free, so it actually makes no difference to me. Sure makes Verizon look stupid though, doesn't it?

I didn't get the recent email, but when I got it back in March I kept putting off acting on it. 

First of all, I didn't like the idea that if I paused I would have to go back to the beginning again.  But the main factor was that I had a feeling that I would mistakenly get charged for the free rental and then have great aggravation getting the charge removed, or even give in and pay it.   Why ask for trouble?  It isn't as if I don't have hours and hours of recorded movies sitting on my DVR that I can watch whenever I want and pause and rewind at will. 

I'm glad that it's expired so I can stop thinking about it.

That is EXACTLY what happened to us.  Kids wanted to watch the Lorax...turns out Verizon says we "bought" it instead of "rented" it.

And they're not giving us a Mulligan on it. {please keep your posts courteous}.

When will we all learn thst there is nothing free in this world!   My theory is to never accept a free offer!!!
