What is a new customer?

Water cooler talk has been " new customers of cable tv get the best deals." I have 60 days left and renewing is going to increase my bill by $15. No I do not want to downgrade my tv package, no I do not want to change my speed to a lower one either. What my plan has been is to go back to Cox but I have to get all 3 to get a $300 visa gift card. I don't want phone since I have ooma and I find that is where all the taxes and fees are since I had phone with cox. Never again. Thing of going back to cox and not sign a contract and then go back to FIOS as a new customer. I wonder if since the bill is in my name, I put it in my wife's name, and make her a new customer. Or do I have to sign up say 90 days to get the better deal. I know deals are changing all the time, but to get a few hundred bucks on a visa, and now a tablet is better for me to wait it out. Customer service lied and said I have the best renewal price because that is what new customers pay. We'll I put in a neighbors address and it gave me a lower price then what I would pay so I call **bleep** and it looked like it was for the full 24 months.

You won't be able to get new customer pricing, but if you get the right rep. in retention they might give you at least something. Some reps. will, some won't.

$15 more isnt that bad, but yes when you could easily go elsewhere $15 is still $15.

In order to be a new customer again you have to wait 6 months after cancelling service. Sometimes like what went on with me is they send a returning customer promo after 4/5 months to come back which was cheaper then what new customers get, but no bonus reward card. Some also get special offers to stay by email after they cancel while the account is being closed and before you get the final bill.

If your wife were to get service under her name she would be subject to the credit check like any new customer and may not even qualify for the new customer pricing right away because you are married to her and live at the same address.

I honestly don't know if that would work, but do know if you simply transfered the account to her name you wouldnt get any different price. You would have to cancel service first.
