Activation of DSL

Hi. One day I logged on to the internet to find myself on a Verizon screen that stated I needed to reactivate my account. I followed the directions yet I get blocked by the signin page. I have my Norton security features turned off. 1st is the Activation page where you follow the step by step directions. The link for this page is

https://activate.verizon.net/myvzlaunch/myvzlaunch.portal?_nfpb=true&_windowLabel=getStarted_2&_nffv...

The software is downloaded and is installed. Than comes the signin page which is blocked because the security certificate does not match the one for the Activation page. I have my Norton security features turned off plus IE. The signin link for this page is.

https://signin.verizon.com/sso/authsso/createMyvzSession.jsp?target=https://www22.verizon.com/foryou...

After repeated attempts I still do not have internet connection. My modem works fine. Any suggestions?

Re: Activation of DSL

Sorry to hear about the problems with the service. There could be a couple things that is going on with this. Make sure your system date and time are correct. This could cause security certificate issue. Also please try using a different browser in case its browser related. If you are still having troubles with the service after trying these, please post back so we can look into this further.

Re: Activation of DSL

Good day. How do I verify system date & time? How do I change it if necessary? I tried reactivating my DSL service with both IE & Firefox. Neither browser worked. Why did I need to reactivate my DSL in the first place? Thank you.

Re: Activation of DSL

Look at the bottom right of your computer screen. You should see the date and time there. If you only see the time, double click it to get the full view.

Re: Activation of DSL

Good day. The date & time are accurate. I went back & tried again to activate my DSL on Firefox. I copied the error message concerning the sigin link. Is this link valid or corrupted? Any suggestions? Would it help if Verizon sent an activation CD? Thanks.

This Connection is Untrusted. You have asked Firefox to connect securely to signin.verizon.com, but we can’t confirm that your connection is secure. Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However this site’s identity can’t be verified. If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn’t continue.

Technical Details

signin.verizon.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is only valid for activatemydsl.verizon.net (Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)

Re: Activation of DSL

It almost sounds like to me for some reason your modem may have reset itself back to factory defaults. Could you tell us what modem you have? It may just be the walled garden that needs to be disabled.

Re: Activation of DSL

Please try this with Internet Explorer to see if you get the same errors.

Re: Activation of DSL

OK,

Visit http://192.168.1.1/ and log in using one of the following usernames and passwords:

admin/password

admin/password1

admin/admin

admin/admin1

admin/verizon

admin/verizon1

admin/Modem's Serial Number

your Verizon username and password

If you can log into the modem, visit the following page, log in again and click on the Disable button: http://192.168.1.1/verizon/redirect.htm .

Then try surfing the 'net. If it works, then we can double check the PPPoE configuration of your modem so you're not using the "newdsl" profile.

Re: Activation of DSL

Good day. I'm surfing yet the original instructions didn't work at first. I logged on to http://192.168.1.1/, the modem was green, logged on to http://192.168.1.1/verizon/redirect.htm & hit disable. Didn't work so from http://192.168.1.1/ I went back to http://192.168.1 & hit disable again yet no results. Tried surfing & the activate pg popped up. I followed the instructions & got a verizon pg. It said my link home.verizon.yahoo.com couldn't be found. Did a different linkl to get to the verizon member pg. Now what about this PPPoE configuration? Thanks
