#1 If in your router, you have it set to hide the SSID - stop doing that. Broadcast the SSID.
#2 What level of Wireless Security (if any) is your router set to? For example WEP/WPA.
#3 If in your router, you are using MAC Address Filtering, add the MAC Address of the Nintendo DS.
#4 And check the type of wireless that is enabled, in the router... For example 802.11b only, 802.11g only or 802.11b and 802.11g.

Ok..
#1 Check the Default Gateway on your computer.
As how to do this, will depend on your OS and Version.
a) For Unix/Linux, see
http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/2724/linux_how_to_find_default_gateway/
b) For Mac go to http://www.portforward.com/networking/static-Mac10.4.htm
* DO NOT Click the Configure IPv4 drop down box and select the Manually option, as they tell you to. *
On the Mac, the default gateway is called Router.
c) On Windows, see as need be
http://www.home-network-help.com/check-ip.html
You see lots of Info, one of them is going to be the default gateway.
#2 With your web browser, go to the default gateway.
#3 Log-in as need be.
For the user name and password, I point you to the following site with a lot of routers listed.
http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm

Very strange.
#1 Let me guess.
One of the IP Address(es) on your computer is the same as the IP Address on http://www.whatsmyip.org/
It is not like for example, this..

?
* Please for privacy/security reasons, ONLY answer my question. DO NOT Post the IP Address that you see. *

In the meantime while I am waiting for you to reply...
#2 Perhaps your computer is dialing out and using the dial-up connection?
a) If you use Internet Explorer, with IE running, go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections.
Make sure that Never Dial a connection is selected.
If you desire to, go to Google and type in Never Dial a connection , then select images to see sample screen shots of what I am talking about.
--
b) If you use OE, In OE:
#1 go to Tools.
#2 Then to Accounts.
#3 At Accounts, select the the correct, e-mail account, and click properties.
#4 In My case, I do not have any since I do not use OE to send/receive e-mail. But no matter..
In there, there will be different tabs. Go to the Connection tab.
What you need to make sure of is that either:
a) Always connect to this account using - is NOT Checked
b) OR always use Local Area Network is selected.
Here is a sample screen shot..
