Hi,
I have been a Verizon customer since September 2011 and the past 6 months or so, the DSL seems to have rapid on and off connections problem without any reason. Each time I call the service, the tech cannot help me remotely and I always have to set up an appointment for a local tech to come in; therefore, I have to take off from work for a half day. This has happened to me 3 times already and one of which it was able to resolve itself without having a local tech coming over. Today, the connection problem arises again with same issue.
I am very concerned that Varizon DSL service cannot offer me a reliable connection any longer, which is frustrating. With less than 2 years with Verizon, I do not recall numbers of times I have restarted my router to fix the connection and called the technical services. I used to be a AT&T DSL customer for 3 years (with a cheaper monthly service fee) and it never happened to me even once.
I believe that I do not have to remind you that each time I take off from work, it causes an impact at my workplace. It is irrational to pay for a monthly fee (now $29.99) with an unreliable service. If this issue stays, I am certained that there will be less customers stay with Verizon and switch to any cable company that offers a faster and more reliable service with a slightly more price to pay.
Please look into this this issue before I decide to switch to a cable service because it cannot be tolerated longer.
Best.

I too had "yo yo " DSL service for many months. My main issue what I was on 40 +year old copper wiring and was ~ 3 miles from the Central Office. Eventually I was offered 3 Mb / 1 Mb service over FIOS and it has been ROCK solid for about 1 year. Have you looked into this option? I certainly can empathize , I almost wore out the reset button on my DSL modem!

BTW< In my area the cost to convert from DSL to FIOS was free, and a few days later they upgraded to phone also. My monthly bill is now less than $40 per month with a perpetual monthly discount. On DSL and copper phone I was paying ~32 per month.
BUT If you need more than 1 computer configured there is a charge ... IF you need help with that i would suggest posting in the appro. forum, or searching. It is easy to setup and there is no pressing need to install "FIOS" Software.
