DSL and Dial Up Connections

I have lost the ability to connect via DSL wired.  It now Automatically goes ahead and connects via Dial Up Connection.  I am using Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.1641.  How can I get back to connecting only via DSL and NOT Dial Up?

Is it actually using the modem on your system to establish a dial-up connection or is a dialer window appearing for PPPoE? I see you are running IE9 which suggests you are running at least Windows Vista, but back in the day Verizon used to set up a PPPoE "Dial-Up" connection on the machine that would connect the DSL Connection if the modem wasn't set up or capable of setting up a PPPoE connection itself.

If you could tell us what modem you have from Verizon and what each of the lights are labeled as and are doing on the modem, that would be appreciated.

Re: DSL and Dial Up Connections

In IE, you must go to Tools -> Connection. In there, there should be a setting that tells IE not to use the Dial-up connection.
