Re: DSL connection problem

LUIS, you attenuation is very similar to mine - really poor. If you can find out how far you are from the CO (Central office) and it turns out to be more than 3 miles you may have no easy way to fix this. IF you can get the modem and attach it to your NID (network interface device) then attach a comuter via wireless or wired and bring up that modem stats that would be helpful (to isolate if you have a line issue on or outside of you home). I had a new wire installed from the pole to the house, a direct line from the NIC to my modem jack (eliminating the need for phone filters) and the modem was replaced but none of this has given me a 100% stable connection.

Re: DSL connection problem

Has anyone had this trouble that uses Verizon only as their internet carrier, and did not bundle services?

I am wondering if this was the plan - to force new account holders to bundle packages, while discouraging previous users who were grandfathered into the new rule from staying on with just an Internet-only plan.

The new rule took effect May 6. And what a surprise? Suddenly my home internet connection isn't working. (I'm one of those people who didn't bundle).

Re: DSL connection problem

That is a good question JS! I have had the slowest DSL and lowest price phone service for about 5 years and Verizon has always been very helpful AFA troubleshooting. BUT not they appear to want me to transition to FIOS or go to another provider because they are trying to eliminate Copper wiring (in my area I was told some is up to 50 years old).

Your upstream isn't too happy. For sure, take the modem out to your NID. The upstream should be synchronized at 864kbps. At your distance or loop condition (perceived) that may be hard to achieve. If you could, provide your modem logs as well so we can figure out what exactly is dying.
