Friends, for about 4 months I was able to connect at DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec) 1184 448 - That was GREAT. Then last Friday I could not connect at all or would connect at a slower rate and it would drop eventually (when it did connect I saw 438/448 for example. I called suppport and we tried many things (another computer, differnet wires , my old modem 6100F). None of this helped so I put back the 7500 and was told 1 day later the network connection was rebuilt. Great now I can connect and it has not dropped for 48 hours, but the connect speed is

It looks like Verizon dropped the speed of your DSL line after the line was unable to hold the 1Mbps provisioning speeds. Right now your line is barely hanging on, so we need to get it sorted out.
First thing's first, if you have access to a NID, plug your modem into your NID and post up the new Statistics. Here's what a NID looks like. http://www.dslreports.com/faq/1317

Cool, I am very competent with computers, (24 + yrs experience) and I will conncect to the NID, I have already opened it and reseated the connections and looked for anything out of the ordinary there. (nothing found)
These were my stats about 2 weeks ago when it worked at 'full speed'
Transceiver Information Down Stream Path Up Stream Path
DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec) 1184 448
Margin (dB) 11.5 22.0
Line Attenuation (dB) 58.0 31.5
Transmit Power (dBm) 9.3 12.1
When I plug the 7500 in and power on, then I will have to run a long Cat 5 cable or connect wirelessly, then login to http:\\192.168.1.1 (the modem/router) Correct??
Will post back shortly with stats from NID,, WE did have a lot of wind and rain recently here, also.

That is pretty much all you need to do once you connect to the NID. Just as long as you can log in to grab the Transceiver statistics, that's all that is needed.

I connected the 7500, then later the 6100 to the test jack on NID, the DSL light flashed for at least 10 minutes before I gave up. Now I get 862/159 but the connections drops intermittently. It use to connect at 1Mb/.3 MB before they 'fixed it' . I called support Monday - did not get a call back, so I called today and the person refused to escalate the issue because at this moment I was within the provisioned speed (I guess she did not believe or understand the term intermittent). Thanks Joe M
PS. for 6 month Before the issues started these were my stats:
Transceiver Information Down Stream Path Up Stream Path
DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec) 1181 447
Margin (dB) 8.3 23.0
Line Attenuation (dB) 62.5 34.1
Transmit Power (dBm) 12.9 12.4
IMO this proves that they can provide the fill 1MB service for download - Since they fixed it D/L hovers betweeb 856 and 556 between connection drops. Upload is always 159.
God Bless any repliers

I hardily agree that the Verizon's DSL service is very slow and unreliable and not as advertised. I've have had continuous problems with slow or no DSL service for at least 6 months and it is very difficult to contact anyone at Verizon to fix the problem. The only thing they seem to care about is their FIOS, and they are not supporting the DSL. The only thing they listen to is if you contact the FCC and the NY Attorney General and then they pay attention. I am going to drop their service as soon as possible as it is atrocious. I wish someone would sue them for fraudulent advertising of their product.

I'll second that! After calling and calling, waiting on hold for HOURS for customer service, I gave up and went with cable. My speed was ridiculously slow and didn't even hit the 768k that Verizon calls 1 Mb. I had been a Verizon customer for years. Now I'm pulling my land-line phone and cell phone too!

I THIRD that! Took me over an hour to get to this page just to comment. I am so sick of Verizon. I totally agree, all they are interested in is FIOS, which doesn't seem to be as popular as they expected. I am literally paying for a headache and not much else. DUH. I am so done with them. FCC here I come, false advertising is against the law!
