Hey, no worries. Hopefully things are much greener on the other side of the fence for you now.

As a fun fact, when the Universal Service Fund was created in 1997, it's goal was to not only give unserved folks access to a dependable copper connection, but it was to eventually lead to a nationwide affordable Fiber to the Home network that other countries in Asia and now Europe now get to benefit from. Fiber is just overall far more dependable as a service over copper these days when maintained. Just look at how well phone service itself works, since that's delivered over Fiber for most of the way now thanks to Bell Labs.

See that would have been a different story, I got the run around for about a year. Only after threatening and actually terminating account did they say that my package needed to be downgraded. AFTER ABOUT A YEAR OF HOOPLA AND RUNAROUND. So that tells me that A. They really don't know what the problem is. B Just don't want to do anything about it. Or C Just plain doesn't care. That sucks, I have been with them over 10+ years. What irritates the holy crap out of me is that they come to this determination quite with out much effort and this could have been solved a long time ago. Instead they milked me for HSI that I apparently, according to them, could never receive. Even though I used to..I really wish I had their attitude with this. I would post my entire private forum in a public area so they could see and judge the boatload of crap that I had to go through to be told I can no longer have what I used to. But I guess it was OK for me to pay for it...I know, I know, I have to let this go, but its very hard.......On the greener side, I am enjoying over 64 mbps now and am very happy this nightmare is over, I just feel like I have been robbed..........

I hear you. I'm still waiting to get Fiber myself, but the wording is on the wall already. As DSL begins to be "sunset" those of us who can't get Fiber will eventually be asked to get LTE service for data instead. I don't know how accurate this info still is, but if indications from Sandy-destroyed areas are of any clue, it's still very likely.

The day I'm kicked from DSL with no Fiber as a choice, is the day I move to Coaxial. A choice I'd rather not make for various reasons since Time Warner is the other choice for me and they're quite evil as is.

It's supposed to be oriented towards rural areas, but it's going to be more than that. Copper will be ran until it is destroyed or deteriorates to not being usable anymore.

Greetings,

You are not alone. I am "supose" have the "enhanced dsl" service, 2.5 down, .65 up. For years, service was as advertized. Today, no sevice. Again  Rebooted modem for the hundeath time, and download speed is 1.69 My sevice has been spotty at best for the few months. Tried changing modem, settings, phone calls, etc. I hve three desk tops, 1 laptop, 1 blue ray player with netfix. What a coincidence when none of them can connect. I went through this during the bad old days of Dial-up. Service became spotty,  no connections, timeouts. This is a monoply way of telling you , tough cookie dough.

Buy the new service, or go someplace else. Please visit   http://transition.fcc.gov/eb/oip/process.html.

Tell the fcc each time service drops out.

In Calif,  visit http://www.dca.ca.gov/consumer/complaints.shtml.

If enough people complain, Verizon will comply.
