EXTREMELY high pings happening at random.

Okay, so every so often I tend to get massive ping issues. I know for sure it is not my equipment given, last time I had contacted verizon customer support via the phone they sent me a new router and called it a day. A technician also fixed another issue with slow connections not long ago either, and all problems point to problems in the lines in my area, though reps seem to constantly deny it. Im hoping that by posting all of this here something will be done about the problem or a potential fix can be offered on my end.

I am connected via a wire, the laptop being used in the living room wirelessly has the exact same issue, the issue occurs still if only one of the devices is being used.

I am paying for high speed dsl.

Now if someone could PLEASE look into getting this fixed. This isn't worth paying 50$ a month for, Others in my area are getting similar results. Reps keep claiming it snot their fault and just throw me another **bleep** router every time I make a phonecall. PLEASE if your reading this, find a way to fix this nonsense.

The high ping times start when you're information hits the Central Office.   My Guess is that there is a problem in the CO.  The equipment might need to be reset, or changed out or there might be a bigger problem, but it doesn't look like it's in your lines.  You wouldn't be able to tell that it's line trouble, unless you looked at your modem's tranceiver statistics.

If the problem is still happening I would call back to Verizon and point out the heavy ping times to that 10.x.x.x IP address.

that's their gateway device or PPPoE server

BTW,  I will throw this out there.  I had a similiar set up and I would ONLY get those ping times when I was streaming netflix or doing heavy torrent downloading.  when I had DSL - that would stress the modem out very badly, so be mindful of heavy downloads or streaming when that problem starts.
