w00h00, that worked!

I just used WinSCP through port 22 instead, and successfully uploaded a file, albeit a tiny text file, up to my account.

Not only does it appear to work (I'll be testing this to be sure, over the next few days), but it's secure to boot - much better!

Figured I'd mention that as an alternative. Glad to hear that works too! Anyways, hope whatever FTP issues are occurring are sorted out should you need to use it again in the future.

You might want to try an alternative to the standard microsoft ftp.exe which only works in Active mode. 

have a look at http://www.passive-ftp.com which is a clone of the MS ftp.exe but works in passive mode.
