HOW TO EXTEND THE RANGE OF A VERIZON ACTIONTEC GT704WGB ROUTER?

I have a VERIZON ACTIONTEC GT704WGB ROUTER at home Smiley Sad. The router works fine if I'm using my laptop within 10 feet from it.

I found out that the range of this router is only 20 or 30 feet. Now that I moved my laptop to a room that is not even 50 feet away from where the router is I get no signal whatsoever. It is frustrating because I spent about 1 hour with tech support just for him to tell me at the end that this obsolete router only covers about 30 feet radius.

Can anyone suggest any kind of antenna or range extender to be used with this piece of router that Verizon offers?

Any help will be appreciated.

If you can, move the router.

Current: 10 feet and 50 feet.

Closer to the other computer: 20 and 40

Even closer to the other computer: 30 and 30.

If you can not move it (or you desire not to move it).

Then consider getting another router, and connecting the two routers.

Now how to, depends on what you want to do.

a) You could have the two routers connected LAN to LAN.

b) OR A second Router can be use differently to create (for security purposes) two independent Networks, see this page for instruction http://www.ezlan.net/shield.html
