Can anyone help us please ? Also do we need to keep our wireless turned on at home as we never use it any where but home ? We checked the speed & it is very low, Thank you.

You do not need any software installed for the DSL connection to work. Windows comes with everything you should ever need for it.
If you do have Wireless enabled at home that is not used, it is safe to shut it off for the time being until you do need it. If you're not sure how to do this just tell us which modem you have so we can point you in the right direction. It is fairly simple though, and the basics of it are log into http://192.168.1.1/ using the following usernames/passwords, click the Wireless settings, tick the off option for the radio and save.
