Internet routing problem

For about a week been having problems accessing a couple of networks in Italy.  More specifically, 94.84.0.0/15 and 77.238.0.0/19.

This is happening both at home and work.  The office where I work uses Verizon for Internet provider.

At home I have a Westell 327W DSL router.  PC's firewall is off.

Here's an example of a tracert from my home PC:

C:\>tracert www.telecomitalia.it

Tracing route to www.telecomitalia.it [77.238.10.113]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1    28 ms     3 ms     2 ms  DSL [192.168.1.1]
  2    26 ms    24 ms    25 ms  10.9.79.7

  4     *        *        *     Request timed out.
  5     *        *        *     Request timed out.
  6     *        *        *     Request timed out.
  7     *        *        *     Request timed out.
  8     *        *        *     Request timed out.
  9     *        *        *     Request timed out.

 17     *        *        *     Request timed out.
 18     *        *        *     Request timed out.
 19     *        *        *     Request timed out.
 20     *        *        *     Request timed out.

 23     *        *        *     Request timed out.
 24     *        *        *     Request timed out.
 25     *        *        *     Request timed out.

 27     *        *        *     Request timed out.
 28     *        *        *     Request timed out.
 29     *        *        *     Request timed out.

Also running the same command at my work place doesn't get past the first router.

Here's an example of a working tracert from my home PC to some other server:

C:\>tracert 4.2.2.2

Tracing route to vnsc-bak.sys.gtei.net [4.2.2.2]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

Trace complete.

Called Verizon tech support and told me to use kproxy.com to connect to those sites in Italy.  Wondering if there's a better solution.

Thank you.

all is well now.   I guess automagically got fixed Smiley Happy.  Here's the latest tracert to telecom italia.

Needless to say it doesn't reach the destination since they are indeed blocking pings but web sites are coming up and that's all I care.

If using a proxy fixes the problem, then it's probably the site blocking your IP address(es). Contact the webmaster and ask them to remove the block.

Would not in the trace route then show leaving the Verizon network and fail when it reaches the destination?

With pong on this one ... if it was a provider block at the remote end, you'd get a few more hops into the network before the packets would fall off.   Try tracerouting to one or more of the routers that you know are along the path (from your work traceroute) and see how far into the cloud you can get.       Sure sounds like a route advertisement issue with whatever router is the next hop into the network unless Verizon is blocking those networks for their DSL customers for some reason.
