Over the past few weeks, my verizon dsl service drops me offline with increasing frequency. Doing a hard reset of the modem lets me reconnect about 1/3 of the time. This never used to be a problem.
Some stats from the modem:
Transceiver Revision A2pB020b3.d20h
Vendor ID Code4D54
Line Mode ADSL_G.dmt
Data Path INTERLEAVED
Transceiver Information Down Stream PathUp Stream Path
DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec)7616 864
Margin (dB) 13.5 11.0
Line Attenuation (dB) 16.0 7.0
Transmit Power (dBm) 15.8 11.9
Some interesting messages from the logs:
Jan 1 00:01:30 daemon.err pppd[1782]: Unable to complete PPPoE Discovery
Jan 1 00:01:30 daemon.warn pppd[1782]: Timeout waiting for PADO packets

I can't resonably paste in more context due to verizon website doing silly things.
Is it the modems fault or verizons fault?

Do you have voice service with Verizon? Do you by any chance get intermittent static on the line, during the times when the DSL drops?
The problem could be the line, the DSLAM or the modem at this point. It's hard to say with a single entry indicating a disconnect.

I don't have voice service, just dsl. Strangely enough today I haven't been disconnected once, for the first time in more than a week. Perhaps there was a problem on verizon's end that has been fixed. If there is a recurrence, I will try to talk to someone knowlegable on verizon tech support.

Glad to hear. Keep us in the loop if anything more develops 🙂
