All,
I live in the Virginia area and have called Verizon support many times about my slow DSL connection and they keep sending me new DSL modems/routers, but this doesn't help at all. All they say is I have tested your line and it appears to be good, no outages in your area either. My neighbor has the same issue and guys that I work with has the same issue I have and at the same time, we all have Verizon DSL. I hate to even call the DSL support line because all I get out of them is waisted time and no help at all.
Does anyone know what is going on with Verizon DSL these days because dial-up is probably faster and more realiable anymore. I will most likely have my DSL service cancelled and pick up cable.

DSL runs on the copper phone lines and speed/connectivity has ALOT to do with distance (the physical amount of copper line between the Central Office and you) if you and your neighbors have simmilar issues, you may be right on the cusp of the max distance... Where basically it can work, but not very well....
this is just me spitballing, so that may not neccesarilly be the case... but it is a good possibility
also bear in mind, if your PC sucks, having high speed internet (whether it is DSL, cable, FiOS, etc)is not going to make it any better or faster
lastly, if using wireless, there are som many factors that come into play with speed/interference/etc... i wont even go into them

Thanks for the response, but I live very near the CO and my PC is updated with 2.3GHZ processor and 1.5 GB of RAM.
I think its just the cabling in our area that Verizon dont want to address, too many people complaining about it.
