My father in-law a Verizon lifer helped me wire a basement jack for my dsl modem using cat 6. The jack works great. However when I moved My dsl modem to the basement I could not get a ppoe connection. I think the problems is outside and has to with how the dsl was configured. I spent 2 hours on the phone with a tech in India who was terrible. Please help.

You can use the Verizon Troubleshooter to fix and report issues with your Verizon Phone, FiOS TV, or Internet Service, as well as to schedule a repair, here is the link:

You can find tools on the Verizon Residential Support page that may help you diagnose your issue:

Was the jack wired with a DSL filter in place?

My house has a whole-house DSL filter in place for all the jacks in the home.  Hence, any new line for DSL has to be tied in ahead of the filter, not tied in with an inside line.
