Do I have to have a wired computer (via ethernet cable) to install my DSL equipment? If so,then why? Is there a way around this? And do I have to always leave a wired computer connected to recieve service?

No, you do not.
As how to get connected by wireless, see the info at
OR if you do not like Google Docs, use
http://www.actiontec.com/support_cms/doc_files/GT704WGB_Wireless_Security_Setup_Guide.pdf

As how to get connected to the net, go to
OR if you do not like Google Docs, use
http://www.actiontec.com/support_cms/doc_files/GT704-WG-B_Vz_User_Manual_30.15.0.pdf
Read from page 1 to page 19 (if using Google Docs to page 20).
If you want to customise the setup to get online, then read from page 1 to page 12, read from page 43 to page 48, then read from page 51 to 53.
