Hello

I have noticed an extreme slow down of my internet service. I have the Enhanced DSL andused to get between 7 and 10Mbps download speeds when testing. I now get between 800k and 1.8Mbps

I have done testing via speedtest.net and discovered that sites East of my location run fast while sites in any other directionrun extremely slow.Below, I am attaching the results of my speedtests. I have checked with other DSL customers in the area and they are experiencing the same issues. My modem reports that I should be getting 11Mbps down.

Could you get us some test results from the morning or afternoon hours when there isless possible prime time? Looks like you might be having an issue with congestion based on the time of day and low ratio between download and upload.

Unfortuantely, no, I cannot. I am not home in the mornings or afternoons to run any tests. I have considered the additional traffic on the internet associated with "prime time" hours, but I should not be seeing that significant of a drop off in performance. Also I should be, or at least I would expect, seeing the upload speed drop off as well which they do not.

I recieved a new modem yesterday from Verizon. I installed it last night and did a tiny bit of testing with promsing resutls. I will be doing much more extensive testing this evening during my normal use time frame since that's all I really care about.

The reason I asked was mainly for diagnostic purposes. Since that doesn't sound possible to do, if you can provide your modem's Transceiver Statistics during prime time, we can also use that to determine if congestion may be occurring. If you don't know how to get these statistics, just tell us what modem you have and any routers you might be using behind the modem. If you are using a Westell Gateway provided from Verizon, most of the time you can get the statistics by simply visiting http://192.168.1.1/htmlV/transtat.asp . I don't have a direct link for ActionTec modems, but that is as easy as visiting http://192.168.1.1/ , choosing the button on the main page for viewing modem Status, and clicking DSL status. I just need a copy/paste of the information on the DSL/Transceiver Statistics page.

See the above link. I just spent an hour on the phone with Verizon this morning. I am having the exact same slowdown issues. The speed check resulted in a .6784 download and a .0247 mb/s upload speed. Verizon at first coulden't even read the line speed when I called in, and then they told me that the lines were unusually slow. DUH! They tried to tell me it might be a computer issue and wanted to do more troubleshooting. I told the guy that NO, we use two laptops and an Ipad and ALL devices were slow on connection speed. They couldn't tell me what was going on. The slow speeds started last night and continued through this morning. I am currently taking online classes at Penn State so I can't take any "chances" for spotty service. We chose Verizon for thier good pricing, however you get what you pay for, and after reading the above posts we will be canceling our service and switching to Comcast's more reliable cable internet service. I suggest saving yourself the headeach and hours on the phone with Verizon tech support and use cable internet instead. Thanks.
