Returning Verizon Equipment

I cancelled my verizon high speed internet in May, mostly because it was too slow. I never received any information on where to send the equipment. Every time that I try to call customer service, I am told no one is answering and the call is ended. I am so frustrated. Does anyone know where I can get rid of this equipment so I'm not charged for it? thanks!

How old is the equipment? You may have to call and ask about sending it back which can take a few tries before you actually get something.

Traditionally there are 3 ways to return Verizon equipment. Probably the easiest is to simply take it into a Verizon Experience Store if there is one within reasonable driving distance and hand it in across the counter.

You also at least used to be able to simply drop the equipment off at any UPS store, and they would ship it back to Verizon. However when I tried it, the UPS store refused because of some billing issues the store had with Verizon.

Lastly, you can hand it to a Verizon Tech if you happen to find one in the neighborhood. In rare cases Verizon will actually send

a tech to pick it up at no charge.

However I suspect that Verizon doesn't really want DSL equipment back. I have discontinued Verizon DSL service at two locations and  never had to return the equipment (and was never billed for it either).

My suspicion is that among the cost to return the equipment, clean it, check it out and repackage it for re-deployment, it probably ends up costing as much as new equipment, so Verizon isn't all that interested in getting DSL equipment back.  This stuff just isn't all that expensive.

This I suppose depends on the company's mood or your area. Over the summer a relative of mine upgraded to Cable Internet from DSL and Verizon asked for their new Westell 7500, and the old Westell 327w back. Usually after a few years Verizon doesn't ask for the gear back but it's strange they wanted a 327w back as well.

You need to talk to the correct office at Verizon.  In this case, the correct office is probably the sales office, not the service office.  You can find out the phone number for your sales office easily.  They're in the phone book  (ha, ha).  It should be a toll free call, even if the number doesn't look like one.

If you get through to a residential sales rep for your locale, first state your concern about not getting billed for the Verizon box.  A good sales rep should be able to settle that matter online as you talk.  Then, address the question of how to return the old box.  As others have said, they may not be very consistent about whether they even want it back.  If they do want it back,  they will probably have you visit the nearest VZ wireless store and hand it over the counter, unless you don't like that option.

Go to : http://www22.verizon.com/home/storelocator/

Pick your state and then it will tell you where to drive to drop it off in person. I don't have time to wait for someone to answer my calls. Just fyi. hope this helps.
