Ok, I am having a serious problem with my DSL. Currently, I have a 3mb/768kb plan. Two weeks ago, we had a strong wind storm in the Boston area and during that storm, I lost internet connection for hours. The next day, I noticed a lot of lag. The lag has been getting worse until earlier this week, when I did a modem reset that had the download at 1.5mbps and upload at 700kbps. That didn't last long (probably a day) as my connection dropped to about 20kbps/700kbps (this was on Verizon's Speed Test website). I did one last reset and when activation was complete, again, I went into the router's admin page (Westell 6100) and to my surprise, found these numbers:
Connection Setting:
DSL Connect Rate (Down/Up) 3360kb/sec by 32kb/sec
Due to this, I am unable to view any website other than Google (and no searching). Right now, I am using my teathered connection to my cell phone.

Please post the transceiver statistics from your modem/router.
My experience is that weather (especially ran and lightning) can cause real trouble in DSL connections (I used to leave 500kbps on my uplink when it rained, and if I could hear thunder, my DSL link was down). But the weather related issues tend to end when things dry out. This tends to be a problem with very old cabling. The dielectric characteristics deteriorate, which isn't much of a problem for voice, but a serious problem for data.
Anyway if your transceiver stats show 3360kb/sec, that is the nominal downlink for a 3mbps, however 32kbps is a very serious hit on the uplink, it should be about 850kbps or so. If there is a major problem on the uplink, but not on the downlink, this is probably a issue in the Central office, rather than in the copper pair.
Anyway, let's see the transceiver stats, and see if we can make some sense out of the issues.
