After installing Mac OS 10.8 a MacBookPro laptop can see the SSID but immediately return the
timeout error when told to join the network.
I know how to talk to the router using a wire connection, can reset, change the SSID, passwd, WEP on or off.
I had an agent helping, we gave up after nearly three hours.
Here are the amazing facts.
The laptop happily connects wifi to my neighbors router (comcast?) which has no passwd set.
My iPad communicates as usually with the home router.
Somehow the wifi on the laptop works, somehow the router works, but both are unhappy brothers.
I have done all the possible, router off, cable out, wait a minute... no joy
Reset name and passwd in router, deleted wifi setup in laptop, reinstalled ... and so on.
Has somebody one more better idea?
I appreciate any help.

I am sorry to hear about the problems with your Wifi connection. What you might want to try is changing the security from WEP to WPA. Later Mac OS versions work better using WPA. Please let us know if further assistance is needed.

What router brand and model are you using? If an ActionTec, what revision are you using?
