Website location redirection?

I've been having a problem where when I visit fairly popular retail sites, such as Best Buy, Groupon, etc. I get redirected to the same site but for a different county (i.e. Groupon.com.co, bestbuy.cn) . It doesn't matter which browser I use, but I mostly use Safari and Firefox (I use a Mac). Sometimes rebooting the router helps. Sometimes it doesn't. Has anyone else come across this or know how to resolve this issue?

Thanks!

Use http://whatismyip.com to find out what your IP address is, and then use the below site to perform a GeoIP search for the IP.

If it doesn't show you as being in the United States, that might be the reason why you are having redirects. Otherwise, I would check your browsers/Mac's Region Settings to ensure it isn't reporting itself as being from another country.

It shows a US location when I do that. I'm pretty sure it's not specific to my computer because I've tried logging onto another computer and it does the same. It also isn't consistent in the location it thinks I'm in. Sometimes I get a chinese site. Other times, turkish. Sometimes it's from mexico or columbia.

Any other insights you might have are appreciated.

Thanks.

Wouldn't have any other ideas for the meantime. You could try clearing your browser cookies and switching DNS servers temporarily to see if that aleviates the problem, otherwise I'd say try leaving your modem powered off overnight so that you grab a different IP address.
