Verizon doesn't block sites. Since you haven't listed any that you tried, I am unable to test. Odds are that you got a new IP address that's on a BOGON list somewhere and the sites are blocking you.

You can send your IP address to the webmaster for the site(s) and/or you can turn your router off over night (or for a day, if you're a day-sleeper). When you turn it back on, you *should* get a new IP address. I would advise that you make a note of your ip address both before and after, so you can tell if it changed.
