Re: dsl with magicjack

I have Verizon DSL and when I got my Magic Jack (a few weeks ago) I just plugged it into a USB port on my computer. After it installed it's program on the PC, I plugged the telephone line into the other end of the MJ and started using it. It works great.

Re: dsl with magicjack

Unsatisfactory. Verizon security Suite's firewall has to be disabled to connect. While using it I was deluged with attacks. Pulled it and done numerous spyware and virus scans. Still have leftover crap. Also I got a two line phone with this and it won't work on it because the phone cords on it don't support majic jacks conectivity, that became a waste as well Logitech Orbit?Skype also was an issue of note. Numerous other things Majic Jack "we're working on it." POOP

Re: dsl with magicjack

Hi Grammy71

I'm trying to eliminate  monthly phone charges to a phone that is ONLY used for DSL.I have Verizon DSL ....  Westell 6100 modem.I just bought MJ & I'm not doing as well as you.The MJ plugs into usb port on desktop..phone cable into MJ. The modem has two hookups..one is the Ethernet, which plugs into jack in rear of desktop..the other is usb which plugs into wall jack..If I remove the dsl cable from the wall  jack.I loose connection to the internet.Any idea where the usb cable should go?

Re: dsl with magicjack

You don't need to use the USB port on the modem. The USB connection is provided in case your PC doesn't have an ethernet adapter. When connecting MJ you don't need to change your current cable set up. Just plug MJ into a USB port your PC then plug in any standard phone to MJ using a normal telephone (RJ-11) cable.
