Dear Verizon,
One of the devices on my network is a CCTV DVR that is port forwarded on 80 and 37777. I have no-ip set up as a DSN to support the dynamic IP changes.
My issue that I've been experiencing that after about 24hrs the DVR no longer appears on my network list. I have the DVR plugged directly into the router (not going through my cisco switch). My router model is: MI424WR-GEN2. The DVR is set up perfectly according to the manufactures specifications. I have <> unselected in my DVR settings and the no-ip information correctly intered into my DVR network settings.
When I check the port forwarding after about 24hrs the ports are still open and active for the DVR. The IP's listed on the DVR are no longer a 192.168.X.X. They are:
8.15.7.117
63.251.179.13
This however is not my current IP or the current listed IP on the no-ip account.
Any help would be greatly appriciated here. Please note I'm not a network or IT guy. I'm just a 'friend of google' who is trying to figure all this out on the fly.
Thanks!

#1 Where you are running the DDNS Client:
a) On the MI424WR-GEN2 router
b) On the DVR
c) On a computer behind the MI424WR-GEN2 router
??
#2 Is the DVR set to use DHCP OR it is set to use a Static IP?

1. The NoIP DDNS client is running on a local laptop behind the router.I didn't know it could run on the router? If so how do I set this up?
2. DVR has DHCP turned off after the initial connect and the no-ip information entered into the settings. See page 5 of this PDF for specifics and screenshots... http://site.cctvsecuritypros.com/2011/spdf/RM36102
Thanks!

Ok.
This is what your directions are..
#1 Set the DVR to use DHCP.
#2 After making sure that the DVR shows up in the router, in the router go to Advanced -> Network Objects
#3 Click Add
#4 In the field provided, I would suggest typing in DVR
#5 Click Add
#6 Where it says Network Object Type, select MAC Address
#7 Type in MAC Address of your DVR into the field.
#8 Click Apply
#9 So, now when you forward. Instead of forwarding to the IP Address, in the router you select DVR. Which will forward to the DVR, based upon it's MAC Address.
