FiOS Phone Voice Service out?

I haven't been able to make outbound calls for 8 hrs, and inbound calls ring here, but the outside caller gets voice mail.  Is there some issue in the NY area?  When I call for support, they mention something about an outage, but don't give any details.

I'm on Long Island and my service went out around 6pm 8/22. All service was restored around 5am today,

Yes, mine started working again around 11:30pm.  Just a little odd.  No explanation or anything.  Good thing I didn't need to call 911!
