Local Calling Area

Why, with all the technology Verizon so proudly touts in all its commercials, can we not find out our local calling area on the web site? Instead, we're directed to go look it up in the paper phone book. Give me a break. It's all stored away in a database somewhere and it's really a no-brainer to allow access to it. Honestly, that is just completely lame in this day and age.

Thats a great idea! This would be a perfect candidate for the Verizon Idea Exchange. Please search on the idea exchange and cast your vote. There may be another member who made the same suggestion. If not, please add a new idea so your fellow community members can comment and vote on your suggestion. http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Verizon-Idea-Exchange/ct-p/ideaexchange . The Verizon Idea Exchange is there for you to submit your ideas and suggestions to Verizon so that we can consider them as we innovate our products and services.

I don't understand.  As the poster has suggested, this is a no-brainer.  It shouldn't need to be voted on as a "great idea."  It should just be done.  Verizon should be focusing on customer service, and not on social media participation.

This website has local calling area prefixes:

I hope that helps.   Just enter your state and then search for your city.

Wow. You got a paper book . I am so disgusted with VZ. Gone are the days were the company cares wether the customer stays with them or drops the landline and uses their A TT cell phone. My husband retired from VZ we are suppose to get a break on our bill , haven't seen that lately and you know no one answers our question, not even the virtual ones!
Still trying to find our local toll calls.

Verizon is partnered with a number of services for phone directories and online.  Your attempts to look up phone numbers will go to one of them.

Whitepages.com is one of them and it has

http://www.whitepages.com/area-codes

and

http://www.whitepages.com/maps

A believe whitepages.com is the one they use for Verizon Visual 411.
