Locate Me takes 6-7 rings to get to the first number in the chain

Locate Me seems to be a nice idea, except that before it starts ringing the first number in the chain, it rings the FiOS phone first for 6-7 rings.

There doesn't seem to be a way to make it go straight to the first number listed, or to make it waste less time ringing the FiOS phone before starting to go through the Locate Me list.

Here's what the caller hears:

  • Ring --"Please wait while we try to locate the person you are calling"--
  • Ring (FiOS phone rings)
  • Ring (FiOS phone rings)
  • Ring (FiOS phone rings)
  • Ring (FiOS phone rings)
  • Ring --"We are still trying to locate the person you are calling"--
  • Ring (1st Locate Me phone rings)
  • Ring (1st Locate Me phone rings)
  • Ring (1st Locate Me phone rings)
  • Ring -- "We are still trying to locate the person you are calling"--
  • Ring (2nd Locate Me phone rings)
  • Ring (2nd Locate Me phone rings)
  • "Hello!" (I pick up the 2nd Locate Me phone and the call is connected. Maybe the caller is still breathing!)

Question: How can I either make Locate Me ring the FiOS phone fewer times before starting along the Locate Me path -- or even make the Locate Me skip the FiOS number entirely?

Question: Is this a bug? Or is this just bad design?
