When away from home, I usually use my cell phone for long distance calls to avoid the obscene hotel charges.
Recently, I was on vacation in an area with poor cellphone coveraqe, and I had to use the phone in the hotel room. Long distance rates were terrible; if I could have called a too-free number, it would have been a quarter.
I used to have a calling card/phone/whatever that let me make a long distance call by calling a toll-free number first. The whole call required about 20 digits, but it was cheap. Does anyone do this any more? Does Verizon do it?

Verizon discontinued calling cards a couple months ago due to low demand.

Is it possible to obtain a "calling card" that my daughter can use to make phone calls from around the country but have them charged to my home phone account?
