On Friday our phones got very statically but, I still received calls and could call out. Then the phone read "line in use" busy. i picked up handset got static no tone. Could not call in nocalls out. Checked box outside No dial tone. The phone line still read busy. Call id still comes into our TV. I can see who is calling while watching TV but, no phone rings nor phone connection. Phone is dead.

It sounds like you have a short circuit somewhere which is knocking out the line.
