cellphones at home

I have Verizon Fios. All 3. Tv, phone, internet. I've used Tracfone cellphones for years and the reception at home is terrible. I recently learned I can buy a cellphone from Verizon and use my router to get a strong cellphone signal. Can I buy a no-contract cellphone from Verizon, and will I get a strong signal because of the router?  Thanks

Re: cellphones at home

Only if your phone supports calling over Wi-Fi!

Perhaps what you're speaking of is a Femtocell?

Re: cellphones at home

In VZW its called a Network Extender.

The Network extender is a device you would need to buy and plug it into your Broadband connection.  Your VZ phone would then connect to it and give you the necessary cell phone reception.

If you have a friend or family that has VZW today maybe you can see what kind of coverage you get.  VZW tends to have better coverage than other cell providers, but it also depends on where you are located in relation to nearest cell tower.
