WhileI have never tried it, I am pretty sure that the call will remain connected if you can do it quickly enough. But I think you may have trouble answering it quickly enough; as I understand the way Nomorobo works, when the phone rings, using the simultaneous ring feature that Verizon's Digital Voice provides, it rings at your home and their location simutaneously, they check the caller id quickly against their database, and answer and hang up very quickly if the caller id is in the database.

Maybe someone else here does have experience with this, but I just wonder, if it is a known telemarketer, why would you want to answer anyway? Not criticizing, just wondering.....and if it is a call that you do not think is a telemarketer that should be blocked, you can report that to Nomorobo and they might remove it from their database.

Oh, and let us know if you are successful in answering and keeping the connection alive. Like I said I have never tried it, and truthfully I can't think of any reason why I would want to. Good luck.....

Justin......well i know a certain very aged person that carries her cordless phone in her pocket....this phone has the ability to store 30 10-digit phone numbers in an "incoming call block" bank......this phone rings only once when it blocks an incoming call from a stored number....and i'd say about half the time  the phone rings, she's answered it within that first ring.....and she's connected to the  "bad" caller.....so,

#1: no more shirts with pockets,    LOL, this keeps her phone  at least two rings away from her.....

#2   we used Verizon's call blocking  for the worst 10 offenders and

#3 hallelujah! Verizon's digital voice incoming call blocking increased to 100 numbers!!!! and when we get a call from a number on the list, the phone doesn't ring! (but they still call;, as evidenced in the logs)

we still can't add more than 10 numbers to the list from within fios tv , but  a software update eventually should address this., til then, we use the online digital voice manager...(go to "my verizon", tthen click on "X new calls" link

i do not  have nomorobo, i might get it,

so that is why    i was wondering about that nomorobo's first ring connectivity    cuz it might work for her and it might not.....and sometimes i like to waste as much of the "bad" callers' time as possible, cuz time is money, and the less they make, the faster they'll be gone....i feign interest in their drivel, start up side conversations, look for my glasses with them on speakerphone...even have them wait while i "use the restroom" , only to misplace some key piece of info they need and promise i'll find it and ask them if i can  call them back when i find it.....by then they usually hang up

Verizon, Comcast and other phone companies can recommend that their digital voice customers (with access to simultanious ring) use the service, but Nomorobo is an independant service.

Justin, scroll back to the third post on this thread dated 01/07/14.  You indicated at the time that you *have* used nomorbo and thought it worked very well.

I have nomorobo and it's very good.  My house has been so much quieter since I started using it and just about all of these robocalls are now down to zero.  It's great and it makes a big difference.  I'm not home most of the time during the week since I am working so I am usually not here to know if and when the phone just rings once.  But I need quiet when I come home and start dinner, catch up on house chores, and use what little time I have to relax.  I don't normally pick up if someone like that is calling but those robocalls go on repeatedly from the same vendors and it's really annoying and distracting when I don't want to be bothered, particularly at night.

And if a robocall still falls through the cracks, it's easy to report on line and then I won't hear from that caller again.

I am not sure what point you are making in the first paragraph, but I am currently still a NOMOROBO user and am very satisfied, have no plans to stop using it and agree completely with all of your positive comments on the service, although who knows what will happen when Verizon sells their Texas residential customers to Frontier Communications in (early?) 2016.

Sorry about that.  I misunderstood.  I reread what you wrote about not having tried it and that you were referring to picking up the phone before the first ring ends.  I misunderstood that to mean that you had never tried nomorobo before.

I did, however, want to comment on your earlier question regarding why someone would pick up if and when receiving robocalls like that.  This rarely happens with me now-a-days but sometimes you can have a robocaller who is calling you so constantly that it's natural to want to pick up just to end the madness.  Some of them will stop at nothing and even bother you on a Sunday and dinnertime, after 6 o'clock, is always their peak time.  So sometimes if and when that happens, I'll pick up or return the call just to get that caller off my back to say "Stop calling me and please put me on your do no call list" and I just want to know who keeps bothering me like that because it's annoying.  It's ridiculous and I think it's harassment.  And my understanding is that companies like that are breaking the law when I am already on the National Do Not Call List.  They just don't care and some of them are really nasty.  Even recently I was getting calls like that daily from Comcast...sooo many times in a row that it was exhausting. Certain numbers that I report to nomorobo on line don't always get blocked so quickly because nomorobo does get backed up sometimes.

Even before I started with nomorobo, there was this repeat caller from Pennsylvania.  I asked that caller to please stop calling me and to put me on the "do not call list" and that caller had the nerve to tell me, "I can't.  It's legal."  And I said, "Excuse me?!  I just told you to stop bothering me.  That's harassment!"  And in the midst of saying that, "click", the repeat caller hung up on me.  It sounded like someone who wanted people's opinions on politics.  I even used to get these repeat calls from Washington State and it's a phone number of a scammer that I was able to find on line.  And the calls from that number would be from people who only speak Spanish.   Nomorbo has pretty much fixed all of that and nomorbo can even put an end to repeat calls from private blocked numbers if you email them about it.

I also learned *not* to participate in any opinion survey on line from my local newspaper.  I did that once and before I knew it, I was getting calls from a university in Connecticut asking me for my political opinions as part of a study.   Nuts!

It's ridiculous and it sort of reminds of what would happen a few years back whenever I would walk by some of these vendors in the shopping mall.  Out of nowhere, some of them would yell out to me, "Excuse me sir!  Can I interest you in.....blah blah blah..." and being someone who doesn't like confrontations with people especially in public, I would just walk by and ignore them.  And still whenever I would walk by them again, they would scream for my attention a second time...a third time...and so on.  I hate that because that's really inconsiderate.  If I'm interested in something one of the hallway vendors is selling, I'll take a peek but if I'm not, I'm going to keep going.  That was crazy but it eventually stopped because I am sure a lot of other people complained about that.  It really isn't my problem if they're not making enough sales and/or commission for the day.

I didn't know that Verizon will be selling its Texas residential customers to another company in 2016.  That's odd.

Not just Texas, Florida and California also. Here is a link to one story about the sale:

I see and now Verizon is going to be more concentrated on the East Coast?  I really don't get it but that's fine with me.

Like I've been saying, Verizon's product is fine when everything is working but whenever there is a problem and I need to contact customer service, it quickly becomes such a waste of time with so many apologies, being transferred and put on hold every which way, and a lot of persistence on my part to get anything resolved.
